Popcorn Sale - Next Steps

We’re in the final week of the popcorn sale and it’s time to wrap some things up. What you need to do depends on the method(s) you used to sell popcorn.
Show & Sell
The sales from the Kroger popcorn booth have been entered in the popcorn system (thanks, Cheryl!) at $38/hour. You have nothing further to do.
Show & Deliver
For the people who took popcorn to sell, you need to settle up. This should be done by Friday, November 6. You can give the Popcorn Kernel money, unsold popcorn or a combination of the two. Any unsold popcorn must be in excellent condition.
The Kernel would prefer if you would deposit any cash collected in your own account and write a check (to “Pack 106”) but this is not absolutely necessary.
Please contact the Kernel to arrange a time to stop by. Cheryl (Mrs. Kernel) can also help you out. They can also tell you how much you owe if you’ve lost track of that.
You don’t need to enter sales in the popcorn system with this method. The Kernel will enter your sales total as soon as possible and let you know when this is done. You should not make a prize selection online until your Show & Deliver sales are entered.
Take Order
There are still several steps for the traditional sales method. If you have taken popcorn orders for December delivery, you should enter those orders online by Friday, November 6. You will need your username and password for the popcorn system. You will receive this information shortly from your den leader. Alternatively, send an email (with scout name and den number, please) to the Popcorn Kernel (popcorn@fisherspack106.org) and he can send you your info.
Our volunteer tester (thanks, Bill!) reports that entering information in the popcorn system works the same as last year. Use the web address, username and password provided. You can copy and paste all those items from the pdf document you will receive. Note that the URL will not work if you add “www”. You must select a theme in order to log in. Click on “Ordering” and then “Take Order Sales Order” to get started. You do not need to fill in the customer email field.
The Popcorn Kernel is required to electronically approve “Take Order” orders in the system. Do not attempt to order prizes until that step is complete.
Ordering Prizes
Prize ordering takes place in the popcorn system with the same username and password that you use for Take Order sales. Choose “Ordering”, then “Order Prizes.”
Prizes should not be ordered until after all your Take Order and Show & Deliver sales have been entered in the system. The system will tell you what it thinks your sales total is.
Prizes should be ordered by Sunday, November 15.
---------------
As always, you can contact the Popcorn Kernel (popcorn@fisherspack106.org) with any questions. This information will also be distributed via email.

Kroger Popcorn Booth
The first weekend of popcorn sales was very successful and we're looking forward to trying it again tomorrow and Sunday. As a reminder, contact Paul Krueger if you are interested in participating - there are a very limited number of slots available for the remaining days (both this weekend and next).

Military Popcorn Donations
So what's with that "Military Donation" option on the popcorn order form? It's simple. One option for our customers is to pay for popcorn to be delivered to our military personnel throughout the world. There's nothing to choose except the donation level ($25 or $40). You should collect the money when the order is placed since there's no reason to return to the customer. We turn the money and the order in to Trails End and they take care of the rest.

Online Popcorn Sales
The popcorn sale begins this Saturday, September 26, with one exception - online selling can begin immediately. To sell online, parents need to create an account for their son at the Trails End website and can then use the site to send emails to family and friends. Remember that the products, prices and prize structure are somewhat different for online sales but you're still earning money for your Scout Account!

Bikes and Rockets at Holland Park
We are looking to have our first Pack activity this week. The new boys will be signing up on Tuesday night, so we will follow that up with an event on Saturday (8/29/09).
We plan on have a bicycle ride with safety instruction from BGI personnel. We will also have fun with the Pack’s air rockets.
This will be at Holland Park . We will start between 12:30 and 1:00. It should last about two hours; give or take.
For the bike ride event, boys need to bring three things:
1. A good bicycle
2. A proper bicycle helmet
3. A parent
The team with BGI will go over safe bikes and proper helmet fit. They want to make sure the parents understand if their son’s bicycle is the right fit and if their helmets are a good fit too. If there is time, they may even do a one-on-one sizing of the boys’ helmets & bikes.
The Pack will NOT be providing any lunch or snacks, but feel free to bring your own if you wish.

Pack Excursion to Richey Woods!
Remember there’s no pack meeting at New Britton in April. Instead, on Tuesday, April 28, we’re meeting at Richey Woods for an evening of hiking and other fun!
The event starts at 6:30pm, rain or shine. Richey Woods is at 10410 Hague Road, south of 106th and north of the railroad tracks
Please note the date change! Some previously published materials had this event scheduled a week earlier.
Website Update
We are launching a new version of the Pack 106 website today. The most prominent change may be the addition of a blog which is easier to update than static web pages and will focus attention on what's new in the pack. The new format should also eliminate the rendering errors that you may have experienced in the past with non-Microsoft browsers.
Please bear with us as we continue to evaluate, update and convert site content.
